Feeling Empowered in Your Healthcare in 2021

It’s time for our new year glow up! Let’s take a page out of Princess Di’s book and treat 2020 like a bad breakup by flaunting the ultimate revenge…empowerment!

While many of us took time to look inwards last year, seeking spiritual enlightenment, setting up personal boundaries for growth, and learning to make homemade sourdough (let’s be real..), the new year can be the perfect start to really prioritize our sexual, physical and mental health. To be honest, taking healthcare into your own hands is boss and we’re here to support you along the way!

As your partner in your sexual wellness and healthcare, we want you leaving our doors (or virtual call!) feeling confident, empowered, and with the tools to live a happier and healthier life. Check out a few ways you can prioritize yourself and ultimately become your own strongest healthcare advocate below.

What does empowerment in healthcare look like to you?

Of course, no two people are the same. So, defining what empowerment in healthcare looks like will be unique to you. For some it can mean getting tested for HIV and STIs regularly, while for others it’s sticking to a PrEP regimen. Our clinic staff is trained in providing you with competent, stimga-free healthcare with the goal of creating a sexual wellness and health plan that works best for YOU. Creating a plan and sticking to it will put you in the driver seat of your sexual healthcare and give you the satisfaction of knowing you’re taking care of yourself and your body.

Destigmatizing Sexual Healthcare Together

Ain’t nobody got time for stigma and shame in 2021! Especially when you’re talking about S-E-X. At Kind Clinic, we want you to feel comfortable talking about sex and your body freely and openly, without the fear of potentially being shamed or judged. You can help us break down the stigma that’s impacted the community for so long by being open and honest about your sex life and healthcare needs. We want you to leave your appointment with the answers you’ve been seeking and feeling a little more empowered than before your visit. We’re well aware that many within the LGBTQIA+ community have had negative experiences while seeking healthcare, and this is one of the main reasons why we do what we do – to create a space where the community can experience the competent and affirming care that everyone deserves.

Coming into Yourself

For many in the LGBTQIA+ community, coming into your sexual orientation, gender identity, sexuality, and body, is a liberating experience like no other. Getting to a place where you begin to break free from the feelings of shame or guilt about being who you are is priceless. Empowerment comes from within and discovering who you authentically are is key to this. We understand that gender identity and sexual orientation exist on spectrums. This process is ongoing. We’re always growing and no one knows you better than yourself. We’re here to support and empower you along your journey to becoming your most authentic self.

The More You Know…

Medical care can be confusing and a lot for some to take on. But, there are resources out there and people who can help you figure the tough stuff out. Advocate for yourself and get those answers, henny! If something isn’t clear to you, keep asking questions until you fully understand. If you want a test run, ask for it. If you think something else can be done, push for it. Get a second, third or fourth opinion. Never be afraid to steer the conversation. Here are a few hot topics that can help some people get the answers they’re looking for:

Make an appointment by visiting us online or by calling our Patient Support Center at 1-833-WE-R-KIND (1-833-937-5463). All four of our clinic locations are accepting appointments.
