Here at Kind Clinic, “Kindness for All” has become our mantra. It’s hard to ignore the political landscape that affects so many of our patients, and with bathroom bills and barriers to medical care we are committed to meeting the needs our patients now more than ever. Waiting lists for PrEP and gender care services are not ideal and we understand that more space and expanded hours are necessary to better serve our community. Results of a recent patient survey tell us you feel the same way and we are very happy to announce that construction on our new clinic has begun!
Since 2015 Dr. Cynthia Brinson has not only donated hundreds of hours as Medical Director at Kind Clinic, but she has also allowed us to serve our patients in the donated medical space at Central Texas Clinical Research. What started as a once-a-week PrEP clinic has grown into a sexual health movement that, to date, has allowed us to serve more than 1,400 PrEP and 86 gender care patients. With the opening of our new clinic, located at 1101 W. 40th St., we will be able to expand operating hours to meet the sexual health and gender care needs of even more central Texans. The newly renovated clinic will feature a comfortable waiting area, three private exam rooms, two patient advocate centers, a spacious lab, and an ADA compliant bathroom. The new clinic will also feature state-of-the-art equipment allowing us to roll out same-day PrEP services into our integrated clinical care model. Our new clinic is conveniently located in central Austin with nearby bus stops and on-site parking. The renovation project will last about 10 weeks with an estimated open date in mid-October.
We are extremely grateful for our staff, volunteers, and board members who dedicated their time to make this vital move possible. We also appreciate the support of our patients and community partners who believe in our mission and stand with us in the fight against HIV and AIDS in Central Texas. The Austin community has shown so much appreciation for the work we do and we intend to keep giving back with even more love and kindness for all!
