Kindness is on the MAP – Your Coverage. Your Care.
We’re excited to share that if you’re a Travis County resident with Central Health’s Medical Access Program (MAP), you can now use your benefits to cover care at Kind Clinic.
From Central Austin to South Austin to virtual visits, Kindness is on the MAP—bringing you trusted, affirming healthcare when and where you need it.
With MAP at Kind Clinic, you can:
- Get the care you need — PrEP, HIV care, STI testing & treatment, and more.
- Put your health first — our Kind Patient Assistance Program can help with co-pays for medical visits and prescriptions.
- Access a network of providers — we’ll refer you to trusted specialists for services we don’t offer in-house, with your records connected under MAP.
- Protect your privacy — your health and personal details are confidential by law. MAP does not share your information with employers, family, or anyone outside your care team.
At Kind Clinic, we welcome everyone—regardless of insurance status. When you use your MAP coverage or other insurance, you’re not only taking care of yourself—you’re also helping keep care accessible for people in our community who don’t have coverage.
No Insurance Coverage? We Can Help.
Our Patient Support Services team can guide you through applying for MAP (if you live in Travis County, have a low income, and no health insurance). We can also help you sign up for Affordable Care Act coverage during Open Enrollment starting November 1.
Why Get Covered?
Many of our patients have relied on low to no-cost at Kind Clinic. As healthcare changes, coverage through MAP or ACA helps keep your costs low while ensuring you can stay with the providers you know and trust. Using coverage also opens access to more services, prescriptions, and specialists, and helps sustain Kind Clinic so care remains available for everyone in our community.

- Why isn’t care at Kind Clinic free for everyone?
Kind Clinic provides affirming healthcare to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. While care is not always free, we encourage patients to use their insurance and fill prescriptions at partner pharmacies like Avita Pharmacy—this helps sustain our mission. For those without insurance or facing financial challenges, our Kind Patient Assistance Program (KPAP) can help cover co-pays, lab fees, and medications. We can also connect you to coverage options like the Medical Access Program (MAP) or Affordable Care Act plans. Importantly, no one is ever denied care at Kind Clinic because of inability to pay.
