A History of Growth and Forward-Looking Vision at THA
Since stepping into his role as CEO in 2018, Christopher has spearheaded THA’s tremendous growth. Under his leadership, THA has expanded its footprint statewide, launching new clinics in San Antonio and Dallas, and establishing a statewide telemedicine program. Additionally, Christopher oversaw the opening of a walk-in testing site in Austin and led the integration of Waterloo Counseling Center, adding behavioral health services to THA’s offerings. He has driven the organization’s expansion beyond PrEP to include comprehensive HIV care, gender-affirming care, STI testing and treatment, intersex care, and more recently, the launch of Glossy by Kind Clinic.
Pursuing Health Justice
In a remarkable milestone, THA serves over 25,000 patients across more than half of Texas’ counties—an extraordinary achievement as the organization approaches its 10th anniversary in 2025. This rapid growth is a testament to Christopher’s visionary leadership and strategic direction.
Christopher’s leadership is not only defined by operational success but by his passionate pursuit of health justice. His vision for THA is anchored in the belief that everyone, regardless of background or identity, deserves access to quality healthcare. Christopher has been a vocal advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, addressing ongoing threats to healthcare access by actively engaging with policymakers. He testified before the 88th Texas Legislature in support of House Bills 839 and 2985, which aim to streamline access to HIV prevention medication by removing prior authorization requirements. He also advocated for House Bill 496, which seeks to prohibit health benefit plans from covering harmful conversion therapy.
In addition to his state-level advocacy, Christopher is also leading local efforts to partner with governments and stakeholders to increase access to care for the communities THA serves, ensuring that health equity remains a priority.
Christopher’s nomination for the Austin Business Journal’s “Best CEO” award reflects his forward-thinking leadership, dedication to health equity, and transformative impact on healthcare in Texas. As he continues to expand THA’s services and champion the rights of underserved populations, Christopher is not only improving individual lives but also shaping a healthier, more just future for all Texans
