Let’s Talk Pride – Where we’ve been and where we’re going

As an organization that serves the LGBTQIA+ community, we couldn’t miss an opportunity to have a Pride discussion in the month of June. With a lot of Pride events canceled this year and other events going virtual, we’re thrilled to present our first-ever virtual Kind Talk.*

In this three-part installment, facilitated by our Marketing and Special Events Manager, Joe Anderson Jr, we sit down with Pride organizers and activists to discuss Pride’s past, present, and future. The panel includes Sheldon (Austin Black Pride), James (Pride San Antonio), Devyn (Queerbomb), Jordy (Austin Latinx Pride), and Emmet (Thee Gay Agenda).

As a note, this project was filmed before the Black Lives Matter protests around the world. Although we only discuss Pride in this video series, we stand in solidarity with our Black community.

Subscribe to our newsletter for Kind Clinic updates and check back here soon for another round table discussion. Next time, we’re joining other healthcare and nonprofit organizations to discuss the far-reaching impact systemic racism has on people of color’s ability to access healthcare and where we can go from here.

*The Kind Talk series is a community engagement project of Texas Health Action (THA) that incorporates elements of storytelling, topic-based panel discussions, and social engagement while providing safe spaces for marginalized communities to talk about barriers that impact both the quality and accessibility to healthcare services. This might sound like a lot, but if you’ve ever been to a Kind Talk, you know they’re a lot of fun too!
