A New Year Brings New Leadership

As we usher in the new year and look ahead to more exciting growth, we welcome new leadership to Texas Health Action and the Kind Clinic. We are excited to announce two new positions to help lead our organization. Joe McAdams is our Director of Community Engagement, and Collin Acock will serve as Director of Development, both new roles for Texas Health Action (THA) and Kind Clinic.

Fighting stigma through education and awareness is a crucial component of our mission. A familiar face, Joe McAdams, takes the helm of our new outreach and education department as Director of Community Engagement. In this position, Joe will help build new community partnerships for Kind Clinic and will serve as a brand ambassador for our organization. “Having been part of this organization since 2015 I am excited about our new journey to build stronger partnerships to address unmet needs and reach underserved communities,” says McAdams.

Joe has served in the field of HIV prevention, HIV disease management, HIV and substance use outreach and curriculum-based education for over 20 years. In this service, he has acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience that includes building lasting relationships with other community-based organizations and other stakeholders in Texas.

We are excited to announce Collin Acock as the Director of Development to grow engagement of current and new donors through special events and create opportunities for investment in our mission. “I am excited and honored to join the dynamic THA team and looking forward to growing the community of support for sexual wellness in Texas,” says Acock.

Formerly Chief Development Officer of Equality Texas and Director of Development at the Long Center, Collin has years of experience in designing and executing fund development strategies and navigating the philanthropic scenes of Austin and beyond. As a playwright and screenwriter, Collin finds ways to weave storytelling into the fabric of what he does. His professional and community activities include, among many others, serving on both Membership and Outreach Committees for the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Austin.

In 2018 we rolled out new services like TeleKind (our telehealth service), medical care from people living with HIV, and transportation and medication assistance. We also hosted our first large fundraising event, What’s Your Fantasy? Ball, to help support these new services. “Innovation is part of the core fabric of Texas Health Action and Kind Clinic. We are excited to add these new roles to lead and support innovative new ways to serve the sexual wellness needs of our communities,” says Christopher Hamilton, CEO of Texas Health Action, adding, “We are excited about this growth and for Joe and Collin to help us in live our mission.”

Joe McAdams is currently with Texas Health Action and Collin Acock starts January 7, 2019.
